Electrifying Connections: Second Presidents’ Meeting

On August 21 (Ninoy Aquino Day), the Rotaract Club of La Consolacion College Manila, Rotaract Club of Manila Metro, and the Rotaract Club of University District Manila hosted the Second Presidents’ Meeting at Jollibee Vito Cruz. This presidents’ meeting was entitled, “Electrifying Connections” wherein attending RID 3810 presidents came wearing striped shirts.

DRC Charlie Chua mentioned that the focus on service projects for this year are Maternal and Child Health and Peace and Conflict Resolution. He urged the presidents to engage with their club members, involve them in the different club activities, and share the stories of the communities the dubs help.

In the meeting, DRAR Kristine Karen Reyes-Cuales of Manila Community-Based Zone 1 discussed how to update the club members’ list in myrotary.org. Presidents explored the Rotary website to understand better what they need to do to update their club and member information. The Brand Center was also explained to the presidents to inform everyone what is the proper use of the logo and promotion materials clubs can use.

This discussion was followed by announcements of plans and projects by different district directors. Director for Professional Development Lauro delas Llagas shared his team’s plans in having a Google Drive for the district wherein resources such as Rotaract Handbook and training modules will different clubs. Director for Club Service Ramcy Paclibre encouraged the presidents to answer a survey about the current state/health of the club, and for presidents to plan for their membership growth in the next three years. Director for Community Service Mark Anthon Lotino asked the presidents to take the online training course on community service which can be found in the Rotary website. Director for Public Relations Krystene Bello reminded the presidents to share photos of club and service activities in social media and to share their best club or service project photos in My Rotary Showcase.

SDG Oliver Alvarez announced during the meeting that there are two Rotaract Clubs in the district that are already recognized as Rotaract Giving Clubs — The Rotaract Club of Chinatown-Manila and The Rotaract Club of Manila. He encouraged other dubs to donate to The Rotary Foundation.

In the latter part of the meeting, different club presidents announced and promoted their dub projects. The next presidents’ meeting will be in October. ■
