The Officers and Members of the Rotary Club of Manila Fort Santiago in cooperation with MERALCO (through Engr. Ernesto A. Fraginal, Jr., Manager, Meralco Taguig Auxiliary Business Center) and the Central Student Council of the Taguig City University through its student council Director, Professor Andres P. Mago, conducted an ELECTRICAL SAFETY ORIENTATION and MERALCO ON-LINE PROMOTION Seminar last August 7, 2019, at the Taguig City University Auditorium.

The said seminar inculcated in the minds and hearts of the 800 youth leaders of TCU the spirit of volunteerism through positive civic engagement on policies or issues that may affect their lives and the lives of those for whom they are responsible for in their respective households, villages, and communities – the safety of households through the proper use of electricity!

Dubbed as “Meralco Patrollers” the student leaders were trained in reporting problems to Meralco, through its online apps (, on anything that would hamper the proper use of electricity in their communities which may, therefore, endanger the lives of people and their properties through illegal electrical connections, among others, as well as, the reporting of other physical obstructions like leaning Meralco posts or protruding branches of trees that may cause danger or damage to electric wires. Doing so would certainly help in the economic development of communities as the normal conduct of businesses is not untowardly interrupted by fires caused by the negligent citizenry.
