The Rotary Club of Hiyas ng Maynila and its very own Rotaract Club of Kabataang Maynila heeded the call of District Governor Liza Elorde in her persistent campaign to grow more trees, not only in cities but, more significantly in the rural areas where reforestation must be put in place.
Last August 24, 2019, the Rotary Club of Hiyas ng Maynila and the Rotaract Club of Kabataang Maynila hosted a tree planting activity entitled “Juan 2 Tree, Year 2.” It was held at Demo Farm in Kalayaan, Laguna in partnership with the Municipality of Kalayaan, Laguna headed by Mayor Sandy Laganapan and Vice Mayor Kenneth Ragaza.
“Juan 2 Tree, Year 2” project was co-hosted by various Rotary and Rotaract clubs from Districts 3810, 3800 and 3820.
Rotarians from RC Fort Santiago, RC San Marcelino, and RC Manila JP Laurel Malacanang, as well as Rotaractors from Rotaract Club of Malabon, Rotaract Club of San Marcelino, Rotaract Club of Downtown Batangas, and Rotaract Club of Downtown Ibaan, successfully planted one hundred fifty (150) plants during this one-day activity.
This is RC Hiyas ng Maynila’s second (2nd) tree planting project for this Rotary year. The first one was conducted in a public elementary school in Paco, Manila where they were able to plant fifty (50) seedlings and donated sixty (60) plants through the generosity of Champion Presidents in the district.
